This could have spawned an attitude toward exercise and fitness that is fairly negative. The rate at which people actually stay on a 'fitness program' is accordingly very low. The programs may not be the cause, but rather the mental attitude to exercise that could be to blame for this high attrition rate. younger children who have not yet fallen victim to obesity or low physical activity lifestyles. Watch them closely and you will see that the word exercise does not mean anything to them. They know the word and in some sense what it means, but it does not have a real place in their life. To them playing and having fun is way above the exercise aspect. It is never a chore to them, never a 'workout', always just plain fun... We need to learn from this approach. Don't try to exercise solely for healthfulness, appearance, doctors orders, etc, etc. Make sure it is enjoyable, something that is fun for you above all else, even if it is not as efficient or as targeted as most of todays fitness approaches. After all what good is an exercise program if you quit after a few months!
