Interested in workout after a stroke? >> see the websites down the page; Fitness and words like exercise are rapidly becoming associated with negative feelings, if that's possible... The couch potato lifestyle and diet of most North Americans has forced people to do something to provide their bodies with enough activity to avoid risks to health. This possibly has spawned an attitude toward exercise and fitness which actually does more harm than good. The rate at which people actually stay on a 'fitness program' is not high at all. The specific programs are not the sole problem, but rather the mind set about exercise itself which might be responsible for this high attrition rate. Observe several younger children who have not yet fallen victim to obesity or sedentary lifestyles. Watch them closely and you can tell that the actual word exercise has no meaning to them. They know the word and in some sense what it means, but it does not really belong in their world. To them playing and having fun is incredibly more important than the exercise part of physical exertion. It is never a chore to them, never a 'workout', always just plain fun... We should take note of this approach. Don't try to exercise solely for health reasons, appearance, doctors orders, etc, etc. Have it be something you enjoy, something that is fun for you above all else, even if it is not as efficient or as trendy as many of the high tech fitness approaches. What good is a high tech exercise program if you only stick to it for 3 months!
