The eating habits and sedentary ways of most North Americans has forced people to intiate action to provide their bodies with enough activity to maintain health. This might have spawned an attitude toward exercise and fitness which actually does more harm than good. The rate at which people actually stay on a 'fitness program' is pretty low. Perhaps it is not the programs or methods, but rather the attitude about exercise itself which is perhaps responsible for this high attrition rate. younger children who have not yet fallen victim to obesity or sedentary lifestyles. Watch them closely and you can see that the word exercise means nothing to them. They know the word and in some sense what it means, but it is not a concept that they can understand like adults. To them playing and having fun is incredibly more important than the exercise part of physical exertion. It is never a chore to them, never a 'workout', always just plain fun... We should pay attention to this approach. Don't try to exercise just for the sake of health, appearance, doctors orders, etc, etc. Have it be an activity you enjoy, something that is fun for you above all else, even if it is not as efficient as todays advanced fitness approaches. How useful is an exercise program if you only do it for a few months!
